Stage Two - Demystifying the DSM and Your World of Service - Steps 4, 5 & 6
Stage Two: Demystifying the DSM and Your World of Services, includes 3 Steps and 3 Action Steps. We will begin with Step Four: “Demystifying the DSM.” Here, we will cover the history of the DSM; the multiaxial classifications system, although no longer in use, is a great tool to gain an understanding of the DSM. This leads to today's views around dimensionality.
Step Five of Stage Two: “All About Services,” provides a discussion about assessment areas, and the use of “Assessment as a Change Agent.” It includes assessment areas to consider, a review of concepts from Motivational Interviewing and the Stages of Change, and Service Documentation. This includes how to write progress notes, service plans, and psycho-socials.
Step Six of Stage Two: "Making the Most of Resources," covers step by step instruction on making the most of internal and external resources and supports, how to get out of the “silo” – learn where you stand from managements points of view and what more you can do to match clients needs, your interests, and agency needs.
These have been gathered from over 37 years of experience in social service by the author, Lolita M. (Jefferson) Goldring, MA, EdM, Psychological Counseling, Certified Life Coach, Certified Shamanic Life Coach.
